Details:

The bottom of the main shaft has cut-outs on side, but overall it is same diameter as fully round 1999 and 2000 model, so you don't need to replace cap transmission. The cables can have some lining cracks in the outer plastic where they connect to box or front bracket, but its normal and will not affect how work. The top shaft seal was replaced by a new one. The shifter box with the cables in good shape, internals work well and everything is tight.

It will fit any 02J 5 speed transmission on Volkswagen Jetta, Golf, New Beetle 98 for the also years 1999 2000 2001 2002 2003 2004 and 2005. Either 2.0L, 1.8T or TDI. We really can't get around that on our Northern cars. The cable ends are the clip on version, they OEM, and unfortunately rubbed bushings have started to crack, still do job that they're supposed do, but you might want consider replacing them eventually.

There is some rust on the front bracket, and bottom of box. There is no loose in it when installed on the vehicle. All original hardware is included for a better installation. The bearing was inspected and cleaned, if it not in a like new condition, replaced.

The shifter tower has been dismantled, inspected, re-greased on all the pivots and bearing. Good condition transmission shifter tower and the interior box with cables removed from a 2003 to 2005 Volkswagen Jetta MK4 5 speed. The shifter knob and boot are very used included for free.
